Joe Manganiello excited for The Batman role

Joe Manganiello is "very excited" about his role in ‘The Batman’.
The 40-year-old actor will play Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke opposite Ben Affleck in the title role in the upcoming DC blockbuster, and he couldn’t be happier about it as he’s always "rooted for the villain" when watching similar films.
He said: "I’m very excited. I just started kung fu, qigong and cutting with a live katana blade. That’s been a lot of fun.
"I grew up rooting for the villain. These characters mean so much to so many people and there’s a real opportunity to polarise an audience or have them walk away maybe not agreeing with my character but understanding why he does what he does. That’s a really fun challenge."
Joe was delighted to voice Hefty in ‘Smurfs: The Lost Village’ recently as he felt the role paid homage to his own childhood.
He said: "I wanted to do something that’s accessible to kids but also something that spoke to the things I loved as a kid."
The hunky actor – who is married to Sofia Vergara – has also been filming ‘Drunk Parents’ with Alec Baldwin and Salma Hayek and had a great time shooting the comedy.
He said: "It’s hilarious. We were cracking up between takes."
And the ‘Magic Mike’ actor thinks his career is just going from strength to strength since he turned 40 in December.
He told Total Film magazine: "There’s something about turning 40. All of a sudden I’m getting everything I’ve ever wanted. I’m really excited about where I’m at and the projects I’ve got coming up."
