Joan Collins: I’ll help Cliff Richard cope with grief over sister

Dame Joan Collins has vowed to help her friend Sir Cliff Richard deal with the loss of his sister.
The 83-year-old Hollywood legend lost her novelist sister Jackie Collins last year when she passed away at the age of 77 due to breast cancer.
Joan admits there isn’t a day that goes by where she doesn’t think about her younger sibling and she is ready to use her own experience of grief to help 75-year-old Cliff come to terms with the death of his own sister Donna Goulden in August.
In an interview with the Daily Mirror newspaper, the ‘Dynasty’ star said: "I miss (Jackie) every day. We were very close. Obviously it’s been a tough year.
"(Cliff) is a lovely, lovely man and a good friend. We went to stay with him in Barbados last year and I’ve known him for over 30 years. I’m there for Cliff, I know what he’s going through."
And the ‘Private Lives’ actress’ support to Cliff doesn’t just stop there.
Joan also believes the ‘Devil Woman’ hitmaker’s decision to sue the BBC for filming his house being raided in 2014 as part of a historical sex abuse inquiry is the correct decision.
Cliff endured a very tough two years after being arrested and investigated over the accusations, only for the charges to be dropped due to a lack of evidence, and Joan insists he is right to want to take action against the corporation.
She said: "When you have a reputation shredded to tatters by particular people, he has every right to take legal action. I hate the way Cliff has been hung out to dry. He never did it.
"I think what happens is when somebody comes to be so loved by the public, like Cliff, some people want to cut them down to size. It’s happened a lot.
"I think celebrities have to be careful where they tread these days. You have to watch what you say because everybody seems to have such a thin skin."
