Jimmy Page performs Zeppelin live for first time in eight years

Jimmy Page performed Led Zeppelin’s hit ‘Rock And Roll’ for the first time in eight years last week.

The 71-year-old rock god performed the song at Seattle’s Experience Music Project Museum with original Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan and Nirvana’s Krist Novoselic among others.

The last time the 1971 track was performed by the full band – Robert Plant, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham – was in 2007 when Led Zeppelin reunited for a one-off charity concert at The O2 arena in London.

The performance last week, which saw Paul Rodgers, Page’s former bandmate from The Firm, on vocals, Alice in Chains singer William Duvall and John Hogg perform and eight guitarists, including Soundgarden’s Kim Thayil and Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen, comes soon after Page announced his plans to release a new solo record and get back on the road on his own next year.

He previously told BANG Showbiz: "Next year I’m just going to be working on the guitar, it’s time for me to go out there and do a solo album – my last solo album was 1988. I haven’t really milked the situation; it’s time to do another one.

"I’m known for playing many styles of guitar, and I need to re-visit all the different styles I can play.

"I want to be playing live again, but that won’t be until next year, I’ve planned all this a while ago. I want to start in the UK, I’ve got ideas but I want to wait to see what happens. I’d like to do Glastonbury I could do a sort of karaoke night with Led Zeppelin songs."
