Jim Parsons’ ‘weird’ first wedding anniversary

Jim Parsons finds it "weird" he’s only celebrating his one-year anniversary with his husband – despite them being together for 16 years.
The ‘Big Bang Theory’ actor admits it is strange being in a gay relationship aged 45 because he and his significant other Todd Spiewak were not legally able to get married until recently, and he feels like they should be toasting a much longer anniversary than their first union.
He said: "It’s such a weird thing being a gay couple … at my age. Because you couldn’t get married. So now this is our 16th year together. But it’s our first anniversary."
Referring to traditional anniversary gifts, such as paper for a first anniversary and cotton for a second, he added: "We’re back to paper. That’s bulls**t. I want gold."
While Jim and Todd – who married in New York in May 2017 – have two pet pooches together, the ‘A Kid Like Jake’ actor has always wanted to have a "judgmental pussy" in their house – but they cannot because the pair are both allergic to felines.
He said: "We’re both allergic. I’ve said for years I would love to have one cat in the house to sit on things and look down at the dogs.
"That would crack me up. I just can’t handle it with the allergy.
"I would love to have that judgemental pussy in the house."
One of their adorable canines, Otis, is 14 and nearing the end of his life, and Jim admits the pair would not keep the canine alive for their own sake if he was suffering.
Speaking on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’, he added: "The dog is 14, old, cold bones, they like the heat. He likes warming his bones.
"I don’t think it’s a major issue.
"The vet said it’s time to start preparing. We would try not to keep an animal alive for our sake."
