Jessica Alba: ‘I don’t care about good movie reviews’

Jessica Alba doesn’t care about good reviews.
The 35-year-old actress insisted that she doesn’t make movies for critics and simply wants to entertain her fans, so criticism doesn’t bother her.
She told Fabulous magazine: "My latest film [‘Mechanic: Resurrection’] is a popcorn movie. I don’t think I’ve ever had a good review, and you know what? I don’t really care. If people walk away smiling and enjoying themselves after watching something I’m in, that’s all I care about.
"I’m not in control of the edit or the writing or the promotion. No one sets out to make a bad movie, we all want it to be good. But it’s a complicated thing to do and it’s a miracle when it all comes together."
Jessica also insisted that she is quite picky about the roles she takes on and decided to star in Jason Statham’s ‘Mechanic: Resurrection’ because her character Gina is a strong woman.
She explained: "I’ve only ever been attracted to characters who have that strength and toughness. That’s why I wanted to play Gina.
"I enjoy action films – I have seen pretty much every Jason Statham movie, and Gina is bringing something to the table that’s not just the damsel in distress waiting to be rescued.
"Women today are resourceful and strong and we can kick butt!"
10 years ago Jessica complained that she only ever got offered parts of "whore, or the motorcycle chick in leather, or the horny maid" but now says she has come to terms with the fact that they movies will always get made in Hollywood.
She explained: "Those types of movies will always get made, but I’ve made a conscious decision not to play them."
