Jennifer Metcalfe praises ex-boyfriend Sylvain Longchambon on skating return

Jennifer Metcalfe thinks her ex-boyfriend Sylvain Longchambon and her ‘Hollyoaks’ co-star Stephanie Waring "make a good team" on ‘Dancing on Ice’.
The 35-year-old actress – who is known for playing Mercedes McQueen on the Channel 4 soap – was left devastated in 2013 when her then-beau left her for his now-wife Samia Longchambon after they met and fell in love on the skating show.
But, although she admitted at the time that the split felt like "death", Jennifer doesn’t have any hatred towards the French skater and hopes he and her friend Stephanie –
who he’s partnered with for the competition – will go far in the current series of show.
Speaking to The Sun Online, Jennifer said: "I watched ‘Dancing on Ice’ the other night and Steph is doing really well. I think she’ll go really far. She’s got a good partner. I think they will go all the way. No, she doesn’t need to do that [trip him up on the ice for leaving her friend heartbroken]. They are a good team."
Jennifer started dating Sylvain, 37, in 2011 when they were partnered together for the skating show, but their relationship was short-lived as he dumped her on Christmas Day in 2013 before striking up a romance with the ‘Coronation Street’ star.
Despite the suspicious timing, Samia – who was partnered with Sylvain on the show in 2013 – is adamant she had nothing to do with the hunk’s split from Jennifer.
Jennifer said at the time: "It’s like a death. I felt gutted. It was the worst Christmas ever. You grieve for all the plans you had in your head. It is a grieving. When you cut someone out of your life like that it’s pretty harsh.
"Our relationship was great, a really good two years. Marriage and kids were in vision. I loved the guy unconditionally inside and out. He adored me in every way."
Jennifer then went on to date Greg Lake – whom she’s been with for five years – and the couple have seven-month-old so Daye together, while Sylvain and Samia got married in 2016 and have two-year-old son Yves together.
