Jennifer Lopez "genuinely" loved Ben Affleck.
The 46-year-old actress has been split up from the hunk for almost 12 years now but has admitted she still wonders what could have happened between them if they’d got together at different points in their lives.
Speaking to PEOPLE magazine, she explained: "I think different time different thing, who knows what could’ve happened, but there was a genuine love there."
The former couple – who were nicknamed ‘Bennifer’ by the media – got engaged in November 2002, shortly after they began dating, but things came crashing down two years later after they struggled to cope with the pressure of fame.
She said: "We didn’t try to have a public relationship. We just happened to be together at the birth of the tabloids, and it was like, ‘Oh my God.’ It was just a lot of pressure."
Shortly after their split, which came weeks before their wedding, Jennifer jumped straight into a relationship with her now-ex-husband Marc Anthony, got married that year and welcomed eight-year-old twins Max and Emme.
Since splitting from Marc, Jennifer has been in an on/off relationship with her backing dancer Casper Smart.
Ben, on the other hand, went on to date his ‘Daredevil’ co-star Jennifer Garner before getting married to her in 2005.
However, the pair – who three children, Violet, 10, Seraphina, seven, and Samuel, four, together – shocked the world last June when they announced their divorce.
