Jennifer Lopez cried after American Idol finale

Jennifer Lopez broke down in tears backstage after the last ever ‘American Idol’ show on Thursday (07.04.16).
The 46-year-old singer – who first joined the singing programme in 2010 – has spent five collective years on the show’s judging panel and has admitted she was overcome with sadness when the last ever series finale wrapped up at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles on Thursday evening.
Speaking on Heat radio on Friday (08.04.16) about the conclusion of the show, she said: "I was in tears, I was sad. It’s been such an amazing show. the whole 15 years."
And, although she’s heartbroken the show has come to an end, she believes she’ll never forget the friendships she’s made through the programme over the last half a decade.
Speaking to Ryan Seacrest – who has presented ‘American Idol’ since 2002 – she said: "What you’ve done is so amazing, and I was always in such awe of you and how you handled it and how you ran that show from the minute I came on. It was great to get to know you and our friendship was just one of the beautiful things that came out of that show."
Meanwhile, Jennifer wasn’t the only person feeling nostalgic after last night’s show as Simon Cowell – who flew back to the US just for the finale – was also slightly remorseful.
Taking to Twitter after the finale, he tweeted: "Hello. Idol bought back so many fun memories tonight. And we couldn’t have done it without the fans. Thank you. (sic)"
