Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt have been sharing "friendly communications" with one another.
The former married couple have been speaking again via text message after Brad – who is in the process of divorcing Angelina Jolie – tracked down his ex-wife Jennifer’s cell phone number via a "tangled web of contacts" to wish her a happy 48th birthday, which she reached back on February 11.
Jennifer also offered Brad, 53, some words of comfort regarding his high-profile split from 41-year-old Angelina – who he began a relationship with after his separation and subsequent divorce from the former ‘Friends’ star back in 2005 after almost five years of marriage.
A source told the new issue of Us Weekly magazine: "They started talking once he wished her a happy birthday … Brad has confided in Jen. Brad told her he’s having a hard time with his split and they exchanged a few texts reminiscing about the past."
Jennifer’s husband Justin Theroux – who she tied the knot with in August 2015 after being in a relationship with him for four years – is said to have no issue with her being back in touch with Brad and appreciates they have history together and that the ‘Allied’ star is going through a tough time in his personal life.
The source added: " Justin is OK with them being friends. Jen just wants to be nice."
As well as finalising the details of his divorce from Angelina, Brad is also battling the ‘Maleficent’ actress for joint custody of their six kids; Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 12, Shiloh, 10, and eight-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
