Jennie McAlpine learning Coronation Street scripts ahead of return

Jennie McAlpine has started learning ‘Coronation Street’ scripts again ahead of her return to the soap.
The 35-year-old star was last seen in Weatherfield as Fiz Stape in December before going on maternity leave to have her second child, and the actress has teased she will be back on the cobbles soon after sharing a picture of some ‘Corrie’ scripts.
She wrote: "Friday night reading Hoping it’s just like riding a bike #itsbeenawhile (sic)"
The star was inundated with numerous messages, including one from her on-screen partner Alan Halsall (Tyrone Dobbs).
He shared celebration and heart emojis in response to her message.
And Andy Whyment, who plays Fiz’s ex Kirk Sutherland, wrote: "Looking forward to having you back"
Jennie welcomed her second child into the world, a baby girl named Hilda, with her husband Chris Farr – who she also shares four-year-old son Albert with – in October.
Following the birth, some ‘Corrie’ viewers pointed out her baby may have been named after legendary cobbles character Hilda Ogden, who was played by Jean Alexander from 1964 to 1987.
Jennie had previously said: "It will probably be named after a ‘Coronation Street’ character like Albert was, but not on purpose.
"But all the gorgeous names have all been in ‘Coronation Street’. So probably that."
Before leaving ‘Corrie’ to go on maternity leave, Jennie revealed the soap’s production team had to reverse a car on the cobbles set in order to disguise her burgeoning baby bump.
She said: "We started [covering the bump] with a mug, and then a handbag. I kid you not, last week they hid it with a Ford Fiesta.
"They said, ‘Can we just move that car back a bit?’ I said, ‘Is this for my bump?’ They said, ‘Yeah, we can see it a bit, but it’s going to help.’ "
