Jenni Falconer chooses young story winner

Jenni Falconer and her daughter have a new favourite book – and it was written by a 10 year old.
The 41-year-old television presenter – who has five-year-old Ella with her husband James Midgeley – was one of the judges of LEGOLAND Windsor Resort’s bedtime story competition and was "thrilled" to help crown 10-year-old Joseph as the winner of the competition as she and her child adored his tale.
She said: "I am thrilled to announce Joseph as the LEGOLAND Castle Hotel Bedtime Story competition winner. His story was packed with imagination and humour – it’s exactly the kind of story I would read to my daughter before bed. She loved the story so much we even read it twice on the way to LEGOLAND!"
The young author’s book, ‘The Golden Dragon Door’, has been published and will be placed in every room of the new LEGOLAND Castle Hotel, meaning guests will be able to read about his tale of trying to help a magical injured dragon with the aid of the castle’s wizard, Guthar.
Joseph – who will also record an audiobook version of his story – was delighted to be chosen as the winner of the contest and to get a sneak peak of the new hotel.
He said: "I was so excited when I found out my story had won the competition. I jumped around the house and couldn’t get to sleep that night! I can’t believe my story is being made into a real life book for everyone to read at the LEGOLAND Castle Hotel! I hope the children who read it like the friendly dragon and wizard character as much as I do. I loved getting a sneak peek of the new bedrooms; my favourite part was the glowing potion bottles in the Wizard’s room and the stained glass window in the Knight’s room."
The new premium LEGOLAND Castle Hotel themed family hotel will open at the LEGOLAND Windsor Resort on 1 July 2017. For more information, visit www.legoland.co.uk/castle.
