Jeff Lynne had Glastonbury chopper

Jeff Lynne couldn’t "handle" the size of Glastonbury when he flew into the festival via helicopter last weekend.
The ELO singer played the ‘legends slot’ at the world famous event last Sunday afternoon (26.06.16) and he admitted when he saw the enormous size of the Worthy Farm site he felt nervous about his performance.
Speaking to BANG Showbiz at the Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Awards in London on Friday (01.07.16), he said: "We flew into Glastonbury in a helicopter, so I saw the whole thing and I just couldn’t believe it. I was like, ‘Let’s turn round quick, there’s too many people!’ I couldn’t really handle it."
However, Jeff was able to calm his nerves to perform one of the sets of the weekend.
The ‘Mr. Blue Sky’ hitmaker added: "But it was great – once we got on it was fabulous. It was brilliant. I mean the crowds were fantastic. It was just a great end to an amazing tour. We did 19 shows and sold them all out in big arenas, so I can’t complain about anything right now."
Jeff didn’t even have to deal with the infamous Glastonbury mud which has plagued the legendary festival over the years and did so again last week.
Explaining how he and his band avoided the mud, the 68-year-old musician said: "We were quite lucky we had a miniature hovercraft, so we didn’t have to worry about it – I’m only kidding! No, people had put planks down and stuff, so we didn’t actually get muddy."
Following his great Glastonbury gig, Jeff isn’t sure who should take the spot next year and follow in his, Dolly Parton and Lionel Richie’s footsteps among many others.
When asked who should get the job next year, he mused: "That’s a tricky one that … um, I’ve no idea. The ones I’d like are dead already! What about a hologram? No, you’re not allowed to do that."
Jeff was honoured with the Icon Award at the Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clefs and was joined at the ceremony – held at the Grosvenor House Hotel – by Lionel Richie, Jess Glynne, Barry Gibb and Olly Murs among other stars.
