Jason Momoa thought his Aquaman audition was a ‘booby trap’

Jason Momoa thought his audition for the part of Aquaman might have been a "booby trap".
The 38-year-old actor stars alongside the likes of Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot in the new ‘Justice League’ movie, but Jason has confessed to being initially sceptical about auditioning for the part.
He shared: "[Director] Zack Snyder, it’s all his brainchild. When I was brought into the room I originally auditioned for Batman. I almost threw away the audition, I was like, ‘This is silly.’
"Then my agent said ‘Zack really wants to have you on tape.’ So I went on tape and played a polar opposite of what it should have been because I thought it was a booby trap, and then they liked the audition and I went in."
Luckily for Jason, Zack is a big fan of ‘Game of Thrones’, the HBO fantasy series in which he starred as Khal Drogo, and the actor believes that helped him to secure the role.
Jason – who is set to star in a standalone Aquaman movie in 2018 – told BBC Radio 1: "At that time Ben [Affleck] had already been cast and I thought, I’m really lucky. I thought, I’m probably going to be the bad guy, to beat up those two.
"I thought I was going to be Lobo. Aquaman got made fun of a lot. Zack’s a big fan of ‘Game of Thrones’ so he wanted someone to come in and not make fun of Aquaman anymore."
Despite boasting a star-studded cast, ‘Justice League’ has already been widely panned by fans and critics.
But Jason recently defended the movie, insisting he still enjoys watching it.
He said: "I’ve seen [‘Justice League’] twice. I loved it the second time even more."
