Jane Hazlegrove returning to Coronation Street

Jane Hazlegrove is returning to ‘Coronation Street’.
The 51-year-old star is to reprise her role as Bernie Winter once again in a matter of weeks, after the character departed Weatherfield when she discovered her ex Kel Hinchley (Joe Alessi) had sexually abused her son Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) when he was in his early teens.
According to Inside Soap magazine, Jane has already returned to the cobbles for filming.
It’s not known what Jane’s returning storyline will be, but her daughter Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell) has been struggling since giving birth to her and Chesney Brown’s (Sam Aston) quads, and she is to be picked on by other women at a parenting group.
Jane first appeared as Bernie in July 2019, but it wasn’t the first time she had appeared on the cobbles.
She initially starred as cheeky teen Sue Clayton – the daughter of milkman Harry Clayton (Johnny Leeze) and sister of Andrea Clayton (Caroline O’Neill) – in 1985, making 27 appearances on the show.
Jane previously admitted she was "absolutely petrified" about re-joining ‘Coronation Street’.
She said: "I wasn’t nervous at all then, but now, a woman in my 50s, it was really frightening.
"Because it’s ‘Coronation Street’, it’s a big gig.
"I don’t want to let the show down and I don’t want to let myself down, or the family.
"So I was absolutely petrified.
"But dear Dolly and Sam, they sort of pushed me around and guided me to the green room, and worked out when I needed a cup of tea and things."
