The Leicester City and England striker – who has had an incredible rise to fame from non-league footballer to Premier League winner in just six years – wants to encourage other soccer players to follow in his footsteps with his new three-part documentary series ‘Jamie Vardy’s Having An Academy’.
Jamie, 29, has signed a deal with Zig Zag Productions to follow his V9 Academy as it scouts 42 non-league players and brings them to a five-day training camp where they will be given insight into coaching, sport science, fitness methodology and mental training.
Scouts from professional clubs and management company Key Sports Management will be brought in to help identify talent.
Jamie told Variety: "I’m looking forward to working with the Zig Zag Productions team on the documentary about the V9 Academy. I hope the series encourages footballers to give it another go and keep on fighting like I did."
Zig Zag CEO Danny Fenton added: "Jamie Vardy is the biggest success in world football at the moment, having risen from a non-league player to becoming a Premier League champion with Leicester City. He’s now launching his own Academy to help players rise up from the non-league to become elite professionals and Zig Zag will be there to film the journey."
The first V9 Academy will take place at Manchester City Football Club’s training grounds in in May 2017.
According to the V9 Academy’s website: "Jamie’s aim is to discover non-league talent and promote them to the professional game while providing them with a unique educational experience into what it takes to play at the top level … all in search of the next Jamie Vardy."
