Jamie Oliver thinks GBBO moving to C4 will make it ‘better’

Jamie Oliver believes ‘Great British Bake Off’ moving to Channel 4 will make it "better".
The ‘Quick & Easy’ food presenter was sad when host Mel & Sue and judge Mary Berry decided to leave the baking competition when it left the BBC but he thinks new presenters Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig, and chef Prue Leith – who will join Paul Hollywood in giving her verdict on the hopefuls’ creations – will be good for the show and he is looking forward to seeing it "evolve".
He said: "I love [the old team] dearly, they’re brilliant. But what happened has happened. I’ve worked for Channel 4 for 16 years and I haven’t seen anything or heard any gossip but what I do think is that the new team looks quite strong. It might be better for the British public. And the only reason I say that is because it had an amazing life on the BBC and now it might evolve.
"I’ll definitely [be watching]. And I hope everyone else will be as well."
However, the 43-year-old chef admitted he can’t help but feel envious of the "extraordinary" amount of money the network spent on acquiring the rights to the show.
He told heat magazine: "What I do know is that Channel 4 have spent an extraordinary amount of money on it.
"I was like, ‘SEVENTY FOUR MILLION! Where did you get that from?’
"Because I would love that sort of budget to make a cooking show."
