James Hooton questions Emmerdale BAFTA snub

James Hooton has questioned why ‘Emmerdale’ has been snubbed in the BAFTA TV Awards nominations.
The 45-year-old actor has played Sam Dingle in the ITV soap since 1995, but he didn’t appear too impressed to see the show has missed out on a nod for the upcoming event.
In response to a tweet from BAFTA which revealed ‘Casualty’, ‘Coronation Street’, ‘EastEnders’ and ‘Hollyoaks’ have received nods in the Soap and Continuing Drama category, he wrote: "Where’s emmerdale? (sic)"
Several supporters agreed with James, calling the omission a "disgrace".
One wrote: "That is Disgraceful, Emmerdale has been fantastic this last Year. Chas and paddy’s Storyline was Heartbreaking. (sic)"
Another tweeted: "Shocking, especially after some gripping & heartfelt/heartbreaking storylines with Charity, Chas & Paddy this year too plus Robrons wedding You are all winners in my eyes much to you all for your hard work xx (sic)"
One posted: "It’s shocking it’s not nominated! It has been fantastic this year and you all should be so proud! (sic)"
Last year, ‘EastEnders’ missed out on a BAFTA TV nod as ‘Emmerdale’, ‘Hollyoaks’, ‘Coronation Street’ and ‘Casualty’, which went on to scoop the Soap and Continuing Drama accolade, were all nominated.
Emmerdale’s BAFTA snub comes just two months after the cast and crew were celebrating when they clinched the National Television Award for Serial Drama, and actor James Moore, who plays Ryan Stocks, won the Newcomer gong.
Speaking to BANG Showbiz and other media afterwards, he said: "If they let me take the award home I might keep it at my mum’s, because I feel like my mum’s house is a lot tidier than my flat.
"I want this to be well looked after, so it will go on my mum’s mantelpiece."
