James ‘Arg’ Argent was told by a hotel cleaner that he’d been reported missing by the police.
‘The Only Way Is Essex’ star sparked a police search last month when he failed to meet his agent because he’d travelled to the wrong airport and couldn’t get in touch with anyone because his phone battery had died, and he’s now revealed he had no idea people were frantically looking for him until a hotel cleaner informed him of the search.
He explained: "Well basically, I went to the airport and I missed the flight and so I checked into a hotel nearby and my phone ran out of battery. So I basically just chilled out in the hotel with no battery.
"Then I woke up and asked the cleaner for a charger and she knocked on the door and she said, ‘You’re missing’, and I said, ‘What do you mean I’m missing?’ And she said, ‘It’s all over the news’."
The 26-year-old funnyman – who is believed to have accidentally travelled to Stansted airport in Essex instead of Gatwick airport in West Sussex – admitted he didn’t realise how much worry he’d caused until he spoke to his mum.
Speaking on tonight’s (11.09.14) episode of ‘Celebrity Juice’, he continued: "So I went and put my phone on charge and went on Twitter, and all I saw was, ‘Pray for Arg’. I was thinking, why are they praying for me.
"And then I phoned my mum and that was it. It was a bit embarrassing."
Arg added: "It was a bit embarrassing but yeah, it’s nice to know people care about me."
