Jake Shakeshaft’s shock exit from The Voice

Fans have been left reeling after Jake Shakeshaft was evicted from ‘The Voice’.

The remaining hopefuls were whittled down from 32 to just 12 in the knock-out rounds, which took place on Saturday (14.03.15) and Sunday (15.03.15), with the former contestant – who hails from Newcastle-under-Lyme in Staffordshire – booted off by mentor will.i.am.

But the 19-year-old singer – who was one of the frontrunners on the BBC One show before his shock exit, having amassed over three million views of his blind audition on YouTube – isn’t worried and thinks he could even top the winning act in the charts.

He told the Daily Star newspaper: "It’s all about marketability. If the label can’t do anything with you, even if you’ve won, it’s going to be a struggle. The general public have to like you. They might vote for you to win but would they buy your album? That’s the question.

"I may not have made the live shows but I’ve picked up just as many followers as the people who have. I’ve got more views on YouTube than them."

Ricky Wilson’s Stevie McCrorie, 29, is favourite to win, with odds of 2/1 whilst Tom Jones’ Lara Lee, also 29, is least favourite, with her odds at 66/1.

‘The Voice’ will continue next Saturday (21.03.15) where the remaining contestants will battle against each other to survive the next round.
