Jake Quickenden to be a dad for first time

Jake Quickenden and his girlfriend Sophie Church are expecting their first child together.

The former ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ star and his significant other – who has six-year-old son Freddie from a previous relationship – have revealed the beauty therapist is pregnant, and Jake is "excited for everything, apart from the nappies".

Jake said: "I’m so excited to be a dad. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do and I feel completely ready for it.

"I hope it will like sport and I can teach it everything my mum and dad taught me. I’m excited for everything, apart from the nappies.

"I’m not sure I will ever get used to that. And I’m a bit nervous about not knowing what to do. Babies are so little and vulnerable."

Sophie is sure Jake will be "an amazing dad" after seeing how he is with Freddie, and the former ‘X Factor’ star admitted looking after the youngster has got him used to being around kids.

Jake said: "Freddie is a little legend. He’s like my best mate. I met him when he was four, but I don’t say that I’m his dad because I’m not and he’s already got a really great dad.

"He’s got me used to being around kids and it will be so nice to have my own child, too."

The pair also revealed they suffered a miscarriage last year.

Speaking in a joint interview with HELLO! magazine, Sophie added: "Even though I was only six weeks pregnant it really hit me hard.

"With this pregnancy we still carry that worry, so it was nice to have the scan and know that everything is OK."Jake also wrote on Instagram: "I AM GOING TO BE A DAD!! I can’t believe it , we are going to have a little Jake or little sophie causing mayhem!! My dad was the best dad in the world and I also have an incredible step dad, I wish my dad was about to see how I will be a role model to this baby, Fred’s super excited aswell. 2021 is going to be the biggest test yet, but I’m so excited for it! (sic)"

This comes after former ‘Dancing On Ice’ champion Jake recently admitted living in lockdown nearly "tore apart" his relationship because the couple aren’t used to spending so much time together.

He said: "For the first week or so, it nearly tore us apart. But we’re starting to get used to it. Even though we live together, we’re not usually with each other this much so it’s been a shock. But it’s nice.

"We’ve also got Freddie running around, tearing the place to pieces. We don’t really get any ‘us’ time, but we’re working on it and we’ve definitely become closer.

"But we’ve been arguing, like over the housework and me leaving my socks around. I think a lot of people will argue over stupid little things."
