Jake Canuso up for Strictly Come Dancing

‘Benidorm’ star Jake Canuso wants to compete on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.

The actor – who plays barman Mateo Castellanos in the sitcom – is a big fan of the BBC ballroom show and thinks he could do well because many years ago he used to dance.

When asked if he would like to take part in a reality TV show such as ‘Strictly…’, Jake said; "You know what I was talking about that long ago I would love to do ‘Strictly…’ because 555 years ago I used to dance and of course I think they wouldn’t get me in because they think I was a dancer, but it was so long ago, I would love to do it."

Jake’s previous experience of reality TV was in January 2013 when he competed on celebrity diving show ‘Splash!’, which was hosted by Olympic diver Tom Daley.

The 44-year-old actor would also like to take part in ‘Bear Grylls: Mission Survive’ because he would love to challenge himself in the wild.

Recalling one of the survival skills shown on the programme in an interview on ‘Lorraine’, he said: "I tell you what I’d like to do as well, I’d love to do that Bear Grylls thing. Yeah I would. When they were biting into heart the other day and all that…"

Among the celebrities taking part in the current series of the survival mission are Mike Tindall – the husband of Zara Phillips – Jamelia and Emilia Fox.
