Jaden Smith wants to change attitudes towards gender fluid youngsters

Jaden Smith hopes that by wearing female clothing he can change attitudes towards gender fluid youngsters.
The 17-year-old actor and singer often posts pictures of himself on Instagram wearing nail polish and skirts and Jaden believes that his fame can help to remove the stigma around gender fluidity.
He explained: "So, you know, in five years when a kid goes to school wearing a skirt, he won’t get beat up and kids won’t get mad at him. I’m taking the brunt of it so that later on, my kids and the next generations of kids will all think that certain things are normal that weren’t expected before my time."
Jaden recently became the first male star to have a solo cover for Nylon magazine in the publication’s 17-year history and he revealed his parents – Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith – have always encouraged him to be brave.
He told Nylon: "The greatest lesson I’ve learned from my parents is to be myself, at all costs, no matter what anybody thinks."
Jaden was named as the face of Louis Vuitton’s womenswear campaign in January and his father Will says Jaden is "100 per cent fearless".
He recently explained: "There’s a really powerful internal quality as an artist that as parents we encourage.
"You’ve got to get out on the edge. You have to try things, you have to be comfortable doing things people don’t agree with and you have to be comfortable with doing things that you could fail.
"And Jaden is 100 per cent fearless. He will do anything. As a parent, it’s scary, it’s really terrifying but he is completely willing to live and die by his own artistic decisions and he just doesn’t concern himself with what people think."
