Jada Pinkett Smith auditioned for ‘Gotham’ with a man on a leash.
The 43-year-old actress revealed that her audition process for the role of Fish Mooney was a little unconventional, after she shocked the executive producer Danny Cannon when she turned up in a long gown with a short wig and a young man on a leash.
Speaking at the ‘Gotham’ panel at PaleyFest, Jada shared: "I said, ‘Forget it, instead of talking about who Fish Mooney is, let me just show you. I went Method."
Despite playing a mob leader in the Fox TV show, Jada has previously spoken out about her own tough upbringing in Balitmore, Maryland.
Earlier this month she wrote on Facebook: "Half my life was surviving a war zone.
"There was a time all that loss felt like the norm."
The actress then added that she was glad that her own children – Jaden, 16, and Willow, 13, with her husband Will Smith – were saved from the same fate.
She told her fans: "I’m grateful for what I have survived … Grateful I didn’t become a statistic like I often thought I would. Grateful that my own children don’t have to confront the loss and violence in their neighbourhood in the way their parents had to."
