Drake might have teased a remix of Ella Langley‘s smash hit Choosin’ Texas.
During a DJ set in Toronto at the weekend, the rapper played a slow-burning, R’n’B version of the viral tune and swapped “cowboy” to “cowgirl”.
Whether or not it will be released remains unknown at this time.
Drake recently attended Ella’s Arkansas show where he was seen singing along to the track and also posed for a picture with the star herself backstage.
The hip-hop star is a huge Ella fan and recently heaped praise on her songwriting, commenting on one of her Instagram posts: “Goated Pen.”
And the appreciation is mutual, as the country star posted a TikTok video of her lip-syncing to Drake and Lil Wayne’s 2011 collaboration HYFR (Hell Ya F****** Right).
Ella has enjoyed worldwide success with Choosin’ Texas, which topped both the US Billboard Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs charts.
She’s also received praise from music veterans such as Shania Twain, who called her an “authentic songwriter” in an interview with Rolling Stone.
Shania said: “I’ve never met Ella Langley, but just from what I’m observing, like all of us, she seems very authentic. She doesn’t come across to me as somebody that’s trying to be somebody else, or trying to write a song that, you know, is with an agenda. I see her as, like, an authentic songwriter.”
