Inbetweeners to form a book club

The cast of ‘The Inbetweeners’ will form a book group to stay in touch after confirming there will be no third film.

The four actors from ‘The Inbetweeners’ movies and TV series – Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, James Buckley and Blake Harrison – have officially finished working on the franchise that originally started as comedy series on E4 in 2008.

Joe (who played Simon Cooper) explained that the cast will have to take unusual measures to keep in touch now that they have finished working together.

The 31-year-old actor joked: "None of us are on Facebook. We can start a book group instead – read a Jane Austen novel."

And despite pleas for a third instalment, the four boys are adamant that they are done with the teenage themed comedy.

Simon, 30, (Will McKenzie) told The Sun newspaper: "There’s no third film. This is genuinely our last interview ever. Ever, ever, ever."

As Joe quipped: "We should take a moment – it’s like the fall of the Berlin Wall."

Father-of-two, James, 27, admitted he felt he was too old to play foul-mouthed Jay Cartwright any more.

He said: "Physically, unfortunately, we’re ageing. The body clock is ticking. It has to end at some point."

While Blake – who played Neil Sutherland – added he was just please that the Australian set sequel had been well received.

The 29-year-old actor said: "The film did really well. It was reviewed really well and we were very happy about that. It was a surprise to us. What a great way to go out."
