I’m A Celebrity could be filmed in Scotland

‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’ could be filmed in Scotland.

The ITV game show – which is fronted by Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly – could be relocated from its annual spot in the Australian jungle to a remote area in Scotland if coronavirus cases continue to flare up in Australia.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Having ‘I’m a Celebrity’ for three weeks in November is seen as a huge priority.

"Everyone hopes to get back to Australia but over there they are struggling massively with flare-ups resulting in second lock-downs. It simply may not be possible because of safety."

ITV bosses are looking to boost the ratings and make the 20th series memorable for viewers at home by swapping the creepy crawly-filled jungle for a spooky Scottish castle or mansion.

The source added: "A decision needs to be made next month – in the meantime, the team is looking at stately homes, castles, mansions in remote areas of Scotland and England to see if we could stage it here.

"A dark, cold and spooky version of the show would be good fun – it would certainly be different."

It comes after the production team held crisis talks in May to determine if the show could go ahead, and were said to be exploring the possibility of employing a mainly Australian workforce if the series does get the green light.

A source said: "’I’m A Celebrity’ is six months away but bosses are holding meetings about how they can ensure it still goes ahead in the current climate.

"A raft of measures are being looked at.

"One of the most recent plans was to employ a crew that is 95 percent made up of Australian workers to overcome the issues surrounding flying to different countries and the quarantine restrictions."
