The identity of the ‘Deal or No Deal’ banker has been revealed.
‘Pointless’ host Richard Osman has confirmed that the Channel 4 gameshow’s producer, Glenn Hugill, is the voice of the mysterious Banker.
Speaking about how he comes up with new ideas for quiz shows, he told the Metro newspaper: "[‘Two Tribes’] was an idea that Glenn Hugill – the banker on ‘Deal or No Deal’ – and I had been thinking about for a long time.
"We kept coming back to it and thought, ‘Hang on, this really works, let’s pitch it.’"
The Channel 4 show, presented by Noel Edmonds, sees contestants aim to win £250,000 by trying to locate the top sum in a set of 22 locked boxes. As they open boxes and eliminate them from the game, they are offered to make a deal with The Banker to exchange their box for an offered sum of money.
Meanwhile, the 44-year-old television presenter previously admitted he would have loved to take part in ‘University Challenge’ when he was a student.
He said: "’University Challenge’ had a short break in its 50-year history, and those were the years I was at university.
"I’m like the missing generation of University Challenge, in the interregnum between Bamber Gascoigne and Jeremy Paxman.
"I was always a bit gutted about that; I’m not sure I would have got on, but I would have certainly had a crack."
