Hulk Hogan is Fandango fan

WWE Superstar Fandango admits it was a "cool" moment when his childhood idol Hulk Hogan told him he was a fan of his.

The 32-year-old grappler recently got the opportunity to meet the legendary star now he has returned to the company to be the host of ‘WrestleMania XXX’ – which can be watched from 1.00am on April 6 via Sky Box Office – and Fandango was stunned when Hulk approached him and WWE Diva Summer Rae to praise their in-ring work.

Recalling the impromptu meeting, Fandango told BANG Showbiz: "Hulk came up to Summer and me and said he was a big fan of ours. It was cool to get a compliment like that, from someone who you looked up to growing up."

Fandango – who uses ballroom dance moves in the ring and is always accompanied by his ‘dancing partner’ Summer – didn’t get much time to chat to the WWE Hall of Famer but is hoping to get a chance to ask the 60-year-old star for some advice in the near future.

He added: "It was just a quick interaction and then he was gone. Hopefully we’ll get to spend a little bit more time together and talk."

As well as preparing for ‘WrestleMania XXX’, the WWE has just announced it is launching its first animated series for almost 30 years.

The sports entertainment company has produced ‘WWESlam City’, a 26-episode stop-motion series, in conjunction with toy manufacturers Mattel which launched on Monday (17.03.14).

The series is comprised of two minute shorts each featuring a different WWE Superstar who after being fired from the WWE by new character The Finisher has to go to Slam City to find a job.

Superstars to feature in the series include John Cena, The Big Show, Randy Orton, Sheamus and Rey Mysterio and viewers will see them become zookeepers, car mechanics and theatre ushers among other jobs.

Casey Collins, WWE’s Executive Vice President for Consumer Products, said: "WWE Superstars are big kids whenever they see themselves represented in a video game or as an action figure, so they have been blown away by what we’ve done here, outside of the ring." The first four episodes can be viewed at WWESlamCity.com and Cartoonium on YouTube and the show can be viewed on other online formats such as via Xbox and Playstation in the UK, US and Canada.
