Hugh Laurie hints at second Night Manager series

Hugh Laurie has hinted ‘The Night Manager’ could return for a second series.
The 56-year-old actor, who played the role of Richard Roper in the gripping TV drama, has given fans hope the popular £20 million series may return for a second season just days after his co-star Tom Hiddleston said the story "feels complete".
Hugh said: "There is a glimmer of a possibility, I can’t say more than that.
"It’s actually not my place to say it because I wouldn’t be the one to write it, or construct it, and I don’t even know what story, and who would be involved in constructing that story, but I hear rumblings."
The first episode of ‘The Night Manager’ is due to air in America tomorrow (19.04.16) and Hugh believes US network AMC are keen to extend the drama if it rates well.
The ‘House’ actor is quoted by the Daily Mirror newspaper as saying: "AMC very much have their fingers crossed for how this goes. They’ll obviously be curious to how this goes over with an American audience."
But producer Simon Cornwell wouldn’t give any steer on whether he’d been involved in talks with the BBC over a second series.
He added: "I think it’s very early days to talk about that."
Last week, Tom – who plays undercover spy Jonathan Pine – said: "As it stands, Pine exists for six hours in a mini-series. The story feels complete. I know the rumours about it extending, but none of that is real."
Writer David Farr has already ruled himself out of any involvement in a second series, saying: "There is lots of pressure but I’m not keen. Personally, I liked the fact that the story ended where the story ended."
But he admitted there was "potential" for further episodes. He said: "Given the characters, there is a potential for something more to happen, and I’m sure someone could find the right idea. But for me, it’s done. My simple feeling is that I wouldn’t be able to make the next one as good."
