Hollyoaks to take on-air break from July 21st to September

‘Hollyoaks’ will take an on-air break from July 21st to September.

The Channel 4 soap’s cast and crew resumed filming on the programme yesterday (13.07.20) at their Liverpool Lime Pictures studios, but their final episode for the time being will air next Tuesday (21.07.20).

Imran Adams – who plays Mitchell Deveraux – said: "It’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for – ‘Hollyoaks’ is back.

"I am in the iconic ‘Hollyoaks’ village, and we are back filming.

"Everyone here is so excited.

"We have so much planned for you guys, and we’re all ready to get back and cracking."

A new trailer will be released next week, which will show what fans can expect to see this autumn on the soap.

And show bosses are hoping to return to four episodes per week in September, ahead of the show’s 25th anniversary in October.

Hollyoaks’ cast and crew have been adhering to social distancing measures upon the resumption of filming, and temperature checks have been carried out, amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Last month, ‘Hollyoaks’ admitted the show will not return to five nights a week until 2021.

A Channel 4 spokesperson said: "’Hollyoaks’ will be resuming production this week in Liverpool ahead of a return to recording on set in July.

"The Channel 4 drama, which is shot differently to other soaps with single-camera, will increase in episodes from its current two nights a week to four nights a week from September, the current plan being to return to five episodes in 2021."

Hollyoaks’ resumption comes amid an investigation by the soap after star Rachel Adedeji – who plays Lisa Loveday – recently claimed she had experienced racism on the programme, including alleging she was once told "you’re all the same" by a make-up artist.

Lime Pictures issued a statement insisting they have "a zero tolerance of racism or any form of discrimination across all of its shows", and ‘Hollyoaks’ announced they are "investigating".
