Hollyoaks’ Ross Adams worried Nadine Mulkerrin might ‘go into labour’ during 3-hander filming

Ross and Imran Adams worried Nadine Mulkerrin might "go into labour" while filming Hollyoaks’ three-hander special.
The trio played out a dramatic episode on E4 last night (31.10.19) during which Cleo McQueen (Nadine) hit out at her boyfriend Mitchell Deveraux (Imran) after realising he has been sleeping with her pal Scott Drinkwell (Ross), and it was "so emotional" at times the lads were concerned Nadine might have the baby on set.
Ross said: "The three hander episode was a joy to film. We were lucky to be given an incredible script written by Alan Flanagan which really delved into the emotional fallout of Scott and Mitchell’s affair.
"Our fantastic director Paul Riordan gave us the freedom and courage to do what we felt was right on the day.
"I was in a hospital bed throughout the episode so I had it easy compared to Nadine, who was pacing around and giving a brilliant performance whilst being eight months pregnant.
"There were times when things got so emotional that both Imran and I worried that she might go into labour."
Fortunately, Nadine managed to hang on and gave birth a couple of weeks ago to son Reggie with co-star and fiancé Rory Douglas-Speed (Joel Dexter).
Ross admits he has "resonated" with Mitchell’s coming out story, because it was a "scary" experience for him in real life.
He said: "Coming out for me was scary and there were many aspects of Mitchell’s story that resonated with my own experience, particularly the importance of it being my news, and my news alone, to share – and only when I felt ready to do so.
"There’s a feeling that you may be disappointing people and you don’t want anyone to think differently of you.
"Luckily, I had the most supportive and loving friends and family so my experience was a positive one."
Ross also admitted he feels "so proud" and "honoured" of the three-hander episode, and says he will never delete it from his planner.
He added: "The episode is a real treat though and the way it’s been shot is unlike anything I’ve ever seen on a soap.
"I’m so proud of the episode and I feel honoured to share it with two fine actors Nadine and Imran.
"We all worked so well together and arranged rehearsals and read throughs in our time to really nail the script – which was great.
"I feel like this is an episode I’ll keep on my planner forever."
