Hollyoaks’ Jude Monk McGowan confirms Liam will be Who Shot Mercedes suspect

Jude Monk McGowan has confirmed his ‘Hollyoaks’ character will be a suspect in the Who Shot Mercedes? storyline.
The soap star’s alter-ego is "excited" about the upcoming plot, which will see a mystery character take revenge on Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe), and the bullet could come from Liam Donovan, who has been having an affair with the raven-haired beauty.
Jude said: "Liam will be a suspect. I was excited [about the plot].
"I’m sure the audience can certainly believe that Liam would have his motives for wanting to kill her."
James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan) and Sylver McQueen (David Tag) have also been unveiled as suspects.
Liam is hopeful Mercedes will leave Sylver for him but looks set to be let down once again.
When asked if Liam will ever learn after being let down by Mercedes a number of times before, Jude replied: "It doesn’t look like he will because Mercedes represents a form of renewal for Liam.
"She’s a potentiality for a new, better life, and maybe even a new family, so he’s willing to give her all the chances she needs to finally come to him."
And if any of the villagers ever shot Liam, Jude thinks there would be a number of suspects, including Mercedes and serial killer Breda McQueen (Moya Brady).
He added: "I’d say that there are certainly a few suspects. Breda would obviously have her particular reasons for trying to get rid of another unsuitable dad.
"Sylver might, as a love rival. Mercedes might find that Liam and his nefarious activity are bringing too much heat to her and her family, if it means she might lose Bobby.
"Grace may well find a reason after learning that he was in the car with Mercedes, maybe especially if she finds out that it was him who was distracting Mercedes which led to the accident."
