Henry Cavill wants to play Superman for ‘years’

Henry Cavill wants to play Superman for "many years to come".

The 31-year-old actor will don the famous red cape for a second time in ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ – the sequel to ‘Man of Steel’ – and he insists he has no intention of walking away from the DC Comics franchise any time soon.

Speaking to website TheAnglophileChannel, he said: "I love the character. I love working with Warner Bros. and what they’re doing with it, and so fingers crossed I’ll be able to tell the story for many, many years to come."

Cavill is very excited for cinema goers to see the two iconic superheroes on screen together for the first time and insists director Zack Snyder’s vision for his Superman and Ben Affleck’s Batman is something very special.

He explained: "It’s Zack Snyder, so it’s going to be a visual spectacle, and its cinematic history. Fingers crossed it turns out to be as exciting as I think it is."

Cavill is believed to be set to play the son of Krypton until at least 2019 with ‘Justice League – Part 1’ planned for 2017 and ‘Justice League – Part 2’ set to hit the big screen.

Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara also recently announced the studio’s plans to make a solo Batman film with Affleck reprising his role as The Caper Crusader and another standalone Superman adventure.

‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ also stars Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman and Jesse Eisenberg as super-villain Lex Luthor. It is scheduled for a March 2016 release.
