Helen Flanagan dreams of acting in ‘Romeo and Juliet’.
The ex-‘Coronation Street’ star has named the Shakespeare play’s female protagonist the character she would most like to play.
She told The Sun newspaper: "I am such a romantic. I would really, really love to play Juliet – it’s my total dream role."
However, the 24-year-old actress – who has been dating Manchester City footballer Scott Sinclair since she was 19 – admitted she would find performing in the tale of star-crossed lovers a challenge.
She explained: "I know people will probably think it’s a really weird ambition but I was actually good at Shakespeare when I was at school.
"My ultimate goal in acting is to appear in Romeo and Juliet, I love everything about it, especially the balcony scene."
She added: "Oh, I so, so want to do that. I want the challenge of it, to really push myself.
"I’ve never done theatre. It’ll be terrifying but I know I can do it."
Despite her ambition to take to the stage in the tragic love story, the actress-turned-model – who appeared as Rosie Webster in ‘Coronation Street’ for 12 years – is considering continuing her studies rather than return to acting, following her departure from the ITV soap in 2012.
She stated: "I loved the show, I still do. But there’s lots more I want to do. I might even go to university.
"I’d like to study something like psychology."
