Harvey Weinstein could lose Producers Guild of America membership

Harvey Weinstein could lose his membership of the Producers Guild of America.
The 65-year-old producer – who has been accused of sexually assaulting a number of women over a thirty year period – has been given a few weeks to respond after the PGA’s National Board of Directors and Officers unanimously voted to start "termination proceedings".
They said in a statement: "This morning, the PGA’s National Board of Directors and Officers decided by unanimous vote to institute termination proceedings concerning Harvey Weinstein’s membership. As required by the PGA’s Constitution, Mr. Weinstein will be given the opportunity to respond before the Guild makes its final determination on November 6, 2017."
Weinstein has already lost his membership of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and he will have his French Legion of Honour stripped from him by French President Emmanuel Macron.
The Academy said in a statement: "[The board had] to immediately expel him from the Academy. We do so not simply to separate ourselves from someone who does not merit the respect of his colleagues but also to send a message that the era of willful ignorance and shameful complicity in sexually predatory behavior and workplace harassment in our industry is over.
"What’s at issue here is a deeply troubling problem that has no place in our society. The board continues to work to establish ethical standards of conduct that all Academy members will be expected to exemplify."
The board of governors – who includes the likes of Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks and Whoopi Goldberg – decided to revoke Weinstein’s Academy membership with "well in excess of the two-thirds majority" voting to see him ousted from the organisation.
The Weinstein Company – including Harvey’s brother Bob – are working on "severing" the producer’s financial interest in the company after firing him when the allegations came to light.
