Harry Reid: First week at EastEnders one of scariest in life

Harry Reid’s first week of filming ‘EastEnders’ was "one of the scariest" of his life.

The soap newcomer is set to take over the role of Ben Mitchell when he returns to Albert Square next week and he’s confessed that while being in the BBC One soap is a dream come true, he found shooting his first scenes nerve-wracking.

Quizzed on what his first day was like, Harry said: "It was quite intimidating and my first week was one of the scariest weeks of my life … Danny Dyer [Mick Carter] came up to me, and the man’s done however many films, and he said, ‘It takes a while, mate. You’ll get into it’.

"Everyone’s been brilliant and so inviting and it’s made me feel comfortable to just get on with it."

Ben – who was portrayed by Charlie Jones from 2006 to 2010 and Joshua Pascoe from 2010 to 2012 – is set to return to the square after being released from prison after serving time for the manslaughter of Heather Trott (Cheryl Fergison).

And Harry has admitted he was nervous about working alongside his on-screen father Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) and picking up from where another actor left off.

He told Digital Spy: "I was bricking it. Steve’s quite intense, as you can tell by his character and he’s been doing it for years. It’s different to come into this with other actors as a whole family because you can latch on to others, but by yourself, it’s a big bit of pressure."
