Harry Redknapp nearly dropped out of I’m A Celebrity

Harry Redknapp found his ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ experience "invigorating".
The football manager was crowned King of the Jungle on the ITV reality show last year, and while his time Down Under was challenging, he was pleasantly pleased by certain tough aspects of jungle life.
Speaking on Paul McKenna’s ‘Positivity Podcast’, he said: "So, drinking water … there was nothing nice about the food or the water or anything else.
"There were no gimmes. It was tough. You were up very, very early, freezing cold shower in the water that was coming off the hillside.
"Yeah, it was … it was … but it was invigorating sleeping outside in the open. Everybody lost weight.
"You know, I felt good. I felt very healthy, very fit for it all week. It made me feel good."
Harry also admitted he was unsure about taking part in the Australia-based programme, but is glad he didn’t drop out of ‘I’m A Celebrity’.
He said: "It was a great experience for me. I’m glad I done it. I nearly didn’t do it. Right late on, I was sort of still not sure I was going to go ahead with it, and I did it.
"One or two friends of mine said, ‘Harry, it’s a great experience for you at your age. You know, go and do it.’ Yeah, I’ve never seen the show. I didn’t know what to expect, but I went into it, and I’m really pleased I did it, yeah."
The 72-year-old star was in the jungle with the likes of ‘The Inbetweeners’ actress Emily Atack – who was runner up on the show – and former ‘X Factor’ star Fleur East, and Harry explained the programme was an opportunity to try "something different".
He added: "This was a chance to go and do something different in my life, a new experience, and I’m pleased I did it. I met some lovely people in there. They were great.
"They weren’t people that I’d ever have thought I’d associate with, a lot younger than me, showbiz people, but every one of them was fantastic. They were just a lovely group of people, and I thoroughly enjoyed being with them, so that made it easier for me."
