Hannah Spearritt was surprised she didn’t get trolled after appearing in ‘Casualty’.
The 34-year-old pop star-tuned-actress played Mercedes who mugged Noel, one of the most popular character on the show, and she thought the regular viewers would be angered by her alter ego’s actions.
Speaking to Inside Soap magazine, Hannah said: "I’m surprised I haven’t had any hate online for mugging Noel. But after my second episode aired, there was a poll on Twitter asking if people were warming to Mercedes now, and the majority said they were. People are beginning to see where she is coming from, which is surprising. After all, Noel is one of the most popular characters on the show!"
There’s more to be seen of Mercedes but Hannah has completed her filming for the show.
The S Club 7 star is open a return to the BBC medical drama if the writers find a way to make her a regular character.
She added: "I wasn’t expecting such a gritty character, so I was pleasantly surprised with Mercedes.
"Mercedes isn’t dead so there’s a chance I could be back! I’m still in contact with a lot of the cast. I’m going to Cardiff for a catch-up soon. I had a great time filming there – I enjoyed getting out of London."
