Gwendoline Christie has been cast in ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2’.
The ‘Game of Thrones’ actress is replacing Lily Rabe as Commander Lyme in the fourth instalment of the Jennifer Lawrence-fronted film franchise.
Rabe was forced to pull out due to a previous commitment to perform in ‘Much Ado about Nothing’ in London’s Shakespeare in the Park event this summer, deadline.com reports.
Lyme, a Commander of the rebellion in District 2, is one of the leaders of District 13 where rebel groups take refuge from President Snow and his Capitol minions.
Statuesque star Christie stands at 6ft3 and is best known for playing a bodyguard called Brienne of Tarth in hit fantasy show ‘Game of Thrones’, so the role of Lyme, described as "standing over six feet tall and heavily muscled", seems a good fit.
The third chapter of Suzanne Collins’ bestselling books, ‘Mockingjay’, is being split into two parts, with the first due for release this November and ‘Mockingjay – Part 2’ landing in cinemas the following November.
‘Mockingjay’ only has two more weeks of shooting left in Atlanta, Georgia, before the cast and crew head to Europe to complete filming.
