Gwen Stefani’s sensitive son

Gwen Stefani’s oldest son is "incredibly sensitive".

The No Doubt singer – who has three boys, Kingston, eight, Zuma, six, and Apollo, eight months, with husband Gavin Rossdale – feels "lucky" to have been able to take some time out from her career because her eldest child "really needed" her to be around.

She said: "The last three years were really hard. My oldest turned five, and he’s an incredibly sensitive person. I had to do a lot of work.

"In a way it was really lucky I was home during that time, because he really needed me during that time period."

The 44-year-old beauty admits it can be tough juggling work and family life and has found the best approach to be taking things a day at a time.

She explained to the New York Daily News newspaper’s Confidenti@l column: "One thing I’ve learned is not so much to worry about the future but live in the moment. It really does help with the stress."

And while she may be busy with her personal and professional life, Gwen will always take time with her appearance and admits she would make as much effort at all times even if she wasn’t in the public eye.

She said: "If nobody was looking I would be the same.

"I love clothes, I always have. I’ve always loved getting made up. I don’t even like going out, I like getting ready to go out."
