Guardians of the Galaxy is full of ‘change’

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ director says he is "developing a new kind of story" for the sequel.

James Gunn has claimed that the next instalment of the superhero movie will be full of "change" as he delves deeper into the Guardians’ characters.

He shared: "Really, it’s just about walking forward in an elegant manner. When you go forward with a group of characters … you’re understanding these characters in a new way, you’re developing a new kind of story about their lives and who they are and where they’re going.

"And if you’re doing that, if you’re walking forward, then you can’t just repeat what you did before. That’s going backwards. That’s not understanding the character.

"The Guardians are going to continuously change. I think that some of the characters are probably worse than what we think they are, and other characters are better than what we think they are. It’s going to be interesting to learn a little bit about that as time goes on."

The 44-year-old director also revealed he had been galvanised by the public’s reaction to the first film – which starred Bradley Cooper, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and Vin Diesel – and is "excited" to start working on its sequel.

He told the website Comic Book Resources: "I would much rather create ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2’ right now. People are excited about it. That excites me. And that fuels me. So, definitely, the audience’s interaction with the film definitely does influence me in that way."
