Gregg Wallace admitted he "really misses" his mum during the coronavirus lockdown.
The 55-year-old television presenter – who has kids Libby, 22, and Tom, 25, with his second wife Denise Wallace, and 11-month-old Sid with wife Anne-Marie Sterpini – hasn’t been able to see his own mother since the government restricted movement between households, and misses playing board games with her.
Appearing on ‘Heart Breakfast’ on Thursday (16.04.20), he said: "I really miss my son, whose in Bristol, Tom, and I really miss my mum.
"Because although she’s only down the road, I mean I’m getting on a bit, and obviously she’s a lot older than me, and we’re worried about her so I’m on the phone, but I really miss her.
"I miss arguing politics with her and beating her at trivial pursuit, that’s what I miss."
In a bid to help bring the mother-son duo together, radio host Amanda Holden suggested the ‘MasterChef’ star FaceTime his mum to play their beloved board games.
She said: "You can FaceTime her, FaceTime and scrabble?"
But Gregg has already begged his mum to try video calling, and she has refused as she knows the family won’t leave her be.
He explained: "She won’t have it, we’re all nagging her and she’s like, ‘No no, you lot are bored, if I learn how to do that, you’re going to be on the phone all the time.’ That’s what she said to me yesterday."
The TV chef is currently in isolation with his wife’s family as his in-laws both live with him.
He explained: "Well yeah because they live with us anyway so I’ve got Massimo and Rina, you don’t marry an Italian girl, you marry the whole family!"
The quartet decided to live together after Gregg bonded with Rina during drunken phone calls when he and Anne-Marie first started dating.
He previously said: "When I started dating Anna, and I would get insecure because she’s young and beautiful, I would phone Anna and she would put me on the phone to her mum.
"Sometimes if I’d been out drinking, a couple of times I spent about an hour chatting to her mum."
