Gregg Wallace prefers isolation with mother-in-law

Gregg Wallace prefers spending the Covid-19 lockdown with his mother-in-law rather than his wife.
The 54-year-old television presenter – who wed Anne-Marie Sterpini, 32, in 2016 – has spent quarantine giggling away with Anna’s mother Rena, who is "roughly the same age" as him, as his wife doesn’t understand any of their 1970s references.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column, he said: "I love Rena – we have such a giggle. We are roughly the same age.
"Me and Rena remember the same TV shows and sing the same 1970s pop songs. Anna doesn’t know what we are talking about. We were singing Boney M at breakfast this morning and Anna has no idea."
The ‘MasterChef’ judge – who already has kids Libby, 22, and Tom, 25, with his second wife Denise Wallace – lives with his Italian mother-in-law and father-in-law Massimo in his Kent home since the couple welcomed their 11-month-old son Sid.
Despite being a workaholic, he still worries about his son’s future and is determined to make sure his family is "financially safe" after he passes.
He explained: "I’ve always been a worrier. We don’t spend loads of money. I want to make sure that when I’m gone, my wife is looked after and financially safe."
Though Anna hates to think about a time when her husband won’t be around, Gregg praised Rena for stepping in to help get his affairs in order.
He added: "She won’t discuss it with me but her mum will because she is very practical."
Even though the family have been having a fun time in isolation, Gregg has admitted he has been missing his own mum, who he hasn’t been able to see since the government restricted movement between households.
Appearing on ‘Heart Breakfast’ on Thursday (16.04.20), he said: "I really miss my son, who is in Bristol, Tom, and I really miss my mum.
"Because although she’s only down the road, I mean I’m getting on a bit, and obviously she’s a lot older than me, and we’re worried about her so I’m on the phone, but I really miss her.
"I miss arguing politics with her and beating her at trivial pursuit, that’s what I miss."
