Greg O’Shea’s pals didn’t know he was entering Love Island

Greg O’Shea’s friends had no idea he was going into the ‘Love Island’ villa.
Monday night’s episode (29.07.19) of the ITV2 dating show saw the rugby player and Amber Gill crowned the winners of the 2019 series, and Greg’s pals and teammates Shane Daly and Alex McHenry have confessed he hadn’t told all of his friends he was entering the villa.
Speaking on Virgin Media One’s ‘The Six O’Clock Show’, Alex said: "We watch a lot of ‘Love Island’ together in the house and I was with contact with Greg on the Friday evening because I hadn’t heard from him in a while.
"So I gave him a call and I was chatting to him because I was based in Limerick at the time and he was in Dublin and he was like, ‘Oh Alex I have loads of gossip for you, we must catch up soon.’ I was like, ‘Yeah, absolutely.’ "He was like, ‘Shane’s been getting all the gossip off me,’ and we were watching ‘Love Island’ Sunday night and he walks into the villa and I’m watching in the house in Limerick and all of my friends were like, ‘Oh my God, what’s going on?’ "
Shane went on to explain that he was with Greg when he discovered the news and confessed the pair were "freaking out" after he was asked.
He said: "It was actually a funny situation. We were in-between training sessions and he just got a random DM on Instagram and he just read it and it was from an ITV casting person and it said, ‘Would you be interested in doing an ITV show in the summer?’
"So his phone rings two minutes later and his head is shook and he’s like, ‘It’s ‘Love Island’. We were freaking out the two of us."
