Greg James says Sounds Like Friday Night won’t return

Greg James says there are no plans for ‘Sounds Like Friday Night’ to return.
The BBC Radio 1 DJ co-hosted the BBC One entertainment show – which featured music guests including the likes of Demi Lovato, Dua Lipa, Shawn Mendes and Niall Horan – with rapper Dotty for two series in 2017 and 2018.
But Greg, who is "really proud" of the programme, says BBC bosses decided not to renew the programme.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, he said: "I loved ‘Sounds Like Friday Night’.
"That was only ever going to be two series and then they were going to see what happens after that.
"Sadly they decided they aren’t going to do it anymore.
"I’m really proud of that show.
"It’s a really brave show to do in 2018.
"Those shows are quite big and expensive.
"It was a really fun thing to do.
"It proves you can do those big live music shows."
Greg recently launched the European leg of ‘The Great Travel Hack’ – a five-part YouTube series that sees two teams from the UK and Netherlands battling it out to travel from London to Istanbul on the lowest amount of CO2 possible – as part of Shell’s #MakeTheFuture campaign.
The series made him think about his own cartoon footprint and he realised "half way through" filming that it was time to swap his car for an electric motor, so he now has one "on order".
Greg said: "When I started looking into everything and half way through the show I was like, ‘I need to get rid of my car.’
"I wasn’t using it and it’s kind of an older car but a nice older car, because I love cars.
"But I thought, well actually this is not helping the situation at all and I could do without it.
"So I’ve got an electric car on order."
