‘Empire’ stars Grace Gealey and Trai Byers have got engaged.
The real-life couple – who play Anika Calhoun and Andre Lyon in the music industry drama – are planning to tie the knot after the 32-year-old actor surprised his girlfriend by popping the question on her birthday on Sunday (26.07.15).
A source told Us Weekly magazine: "He surprised her on her birthday.
"He popped the question and she was totally surprised and elated. She can’t stop looking at the ring! They celebrated all night."
The couple were joined at Grace’s birthday celebrations in Chicago by their ‘Empire’ co-stars and had an "unforgettable" night.
Alongside a photo collage of their evening, Trai wrote on Instagram: "Had so much fun celebrating @gracegealey’s life!! Happy Birthday to an exquisite human being! Thank you @kinmontchicago for hosting us. Amazing spot, wonderful food, UNFORGETTABLE night (sic)"
And, posting her own photo collage, Grace wrote: "To all who sent greetings, called, messaged and came out to celebrate yesterday, thank you. It was an incredibly unforgettable day. And looking forward to an incredibly unforgettable year. #31HereWeCome #empirefam #arthurmurrayfam #famfam (sic)"
It was revealed in March that Grace and Trai had begun dating not long after filming first started on ‘Empire’.
A source previously said: "They started seeing each other during the shooting of the show. There was an instant attraction, people working on the show are aware about it.
"When they all hang out together they’ll cuddle and give a kiss, but it’s nothing obscene."
