Georgina Chapman needed therapy to cope with Harvey Weinstein sex scandal

Harvey Weinstein’s estranged wife Georgina Chapman has had therapy to cope with the sex scandal which has engulfed her disgraced husband.
The 66-year-old Hollywood producer has been accused by over 80 women working in the film industry of serious sexual assault or harassment following reports published by newspapers The New York Times and The New Yorker last October exposing his inappropriate behaviour over a 30-year period.
Georgina, 42, announced she was divorcing Harvey in the wake of the expose and in her first interview since the scandal broke she has admitted that she had been "terribly naive" about her spouse and had no idea about what he had been doing, saying, "absolutely not. Never. And I’ve never been one of those people who obsesses about where someone is".
And she had to undergo professional counselling to process the storm that she was unwittingly part of.
Speaking to Vogue magazine, Georgina said: "At first I couldn’t (have therapy), because I was too shocked. And I somehow felt that I didn’t deserve it. And then I realised: This has happened. I have to own it. I have to move forward. There was a part of me that was terribly naive – clearly, so naive. I have moments of rage, I have moments of confusion, I have moments of disbelief!"
Revealing how she became afraid to even leave her house because of the movie mogul’s behaviour, she added: "I was so humiliated and so broken … that … I didn’t think it was respectful to go out … I thought, ‘Who am I to be parading around with all of this going on?’ It’s still so very, very raw. I was walking up the stairs the other day and I stopped; it was like all the air had been punched out of my lungs."
Georgina and Harvey have two children, seven-year-old daughter India and seven-month-old son Dashiell, together and the English fashion designer is worried about her kids’ future and frets over what sort of relationship they will have with their father.
The Marchesa co-founder said: "I have moments when I just cry for my children. What are their lives going to be? What are people going to say to them? It’s like, they love their dad. They love him. I just can’t bear it for them!"
Georgina first started dating Harvey in December 2004 after he had separated from his first wife Eve Chilton and the former couple married in December 2007.
Following the avalanche of accusations made against him, Harvey went to rehab to be treated for sex addiction. He has always denied any wrongdoing insisting that any sex acts which took place between him and his accusers was consensual.
