Georgia Toffolo ‘inspired’ by Silk Series female jockeys

Georgia Toffolo feels "inspired" after championing female jockeys during a day at the races.
The former ‘Made in Chelsea’ star turned roving reporter for Great British Racing at the DFS Ladies Day of the St Leger Festival at Doncaster Racecourse on Thursday (12.09.19), where she chatted to numerous sportswomen about The Silk Series, a £150,000 series of races for female jockeys.
She said: "I am so inspired by all the women I’ve spoken to at Doncaster today and it’s amazing to see the variety of ways in which they’re making their mark on the world."
Among the jockeys Toff spoke to was her good friend Megan Nicholls, the daughter of 10-time Champion Jumps Trainer Paul Nicholls.
She said: "Megan and I have become great friends over the years through our shared love of racing and it’s wonderful to see her doing so well.
"It was a big day for her, so it was very special to be able to interview her this morning."
Megan said: "The Silk Series is a great initiative – It gives all the girls a chance to showcase their talents and has been hugely supported with more races at more tracks, so long may that continue.
"To win it once was brilliant, but three times is incredible."
Toff – who also spoke to jockey Hayley Moore – will be back in the reporting saddle for Great British Racing at Huntingdon Racecourse on Saturday 23rd November.
Another reality star with a big interest in horse racing is ‘TOWIE’ star James Lock, who is part of a syndicate which owns racehorse Keystroke.
He recently said: "Owning a racehorse is brilliant.
"It takes you to places you could only imagine of going and adds to the excitement of what is already a great day out.
"Especially being in a syndicate with my mates, it’s a special feeling when your horse wins. I would encourage anyone to get into ownership, if I can do it, anyone can."
As well as championing The Silk Series, Great British Racing has created online platform Inthepaddock.co.uk to showcase to potential buyers just how easy and affordable it can be to become a racehorse owner.
Options start from as little as £100 for a share in a racehorse.
Follow @GreatBritishRacing on Instagram to see Toff’s last report in November, and all of her previous posts from racecourses across the UK. For more information go to www.gbraci.ng/toff.
