Gemma Oaten may make a return to ‘Emmerdale’.
The 31-year-old actress bowed out of the long-running soap last summer after playing chavvy factory worker Rachel Breckle on and off since 2011 but she has admitted she wouldn’t rule out reprising her alter-ego in the near future.
She explained: "’Emmerdale’ was such a massive part of my life. It is such a treat of a job. So I don’t think you can ever put limitations on going back. It’s all about timing – it would depend where I was in my personal life and career. Some people have got theories that if you play a soap role for long enough then you get typecast. But I believe you can do what you do with a talent then you’ll get somewhere."
However, for now, the brunette beauty has her eye on a period drama as she’d like to break through her typecast.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, she said: "There are talks about a period drama. It would be amazing to get that and be in a corset rather than trackie bottoms and a hoodie – it would be great to do something really different.
"All of the characters I’ve played have been rough and ready … Over the years, I’ve set fire to a pub, I’ve hit a boyfriend and I’ve taken drugs on screen. But I can scrub up OK so doing a period piece would be perfect for me."
