Gemma Oaten returning to Holby City

Gemma Oaten is returning to ‘Holby City’ for a third time.
The former ‘Emmerdale’ actress – who shot to fame as Rachel Breckle in the ITV soap – will reprise her role as nurse Sydney Somers in the BBC One serial drama this autumn, and she can’t wait to get started again.
She said: "I love playing Sydney Somers and it’s always a joy to return."
Gemma has hinted fans can expect plenty more drama between her character and Alex Walkinshaw’s director of nursing alter-ego Adrian ‘Fletch’ Fletcher later this year.
She is quoted by the Daily Star newspaper as saying: "As the viewers have seen before, she often causes quite a stir – especially with Fletch.
"Who knows what they’ll be like with each other this time round, especially when he sees her in a bridesmaid dress!"
This comes just two months after Gemma dropped a huge hint that she could be set to reprise her role as Rachel in ‘Emmerdale’.
In response to a fan on Twitter who claimed there are rumours that Rachel is coming back to the soap, or that her sister Ali Spencer (Kelli Hollis) could be alive, Gemma replied: "Am I? I don’t know?! (sic)"
Gemma also failed to rule out speculation that Rachel could be behind the disappearance of her niece Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell) after the youngster recently went missing.
One ‘Emmerdale’ supporter wrote: "Is it you @gemmaoaten??? #ameliasdissapperance (sic)"
Gemma tweeted: "Is it me what? I’m me I think! (sic)"
The actress made her last ‘Emmerdale’ appearance in August 2015 – four years after joining the soap – but admitted just a year later she would be keen to move back to the village.
She said at the time: "’Emmerdale’ was such a massive part of my life. It is such a treat of a job. So I don’t think you can ever put limitations on going back.
"It’s all about timing – it would depend where I was in my personal life and career. Some people have got theories that if you play a soap role for long enough then you get typecast. But I believe you can do what you do with a talent then you’ll get somewhere."
